THE MONKEY AND THE DOGGY

based upon The Owl and the Pussycat

I.
The monkey and the doggy
They travelled abroad
In an awful variety of words
They took some clothes
And other displays
Wrapped in a bundle
Of joy
What a beautiful
Bark you have
you have
you have

II.
The monkey stood in love
To serenade the doggy
What a gorgeous bone
Away from home
While abroad they went to
A place
They named cat in the hat
Rather fat. They decided
To sing
'I have a day planned'
Said the monkey
To the doggy
'We will go to the
Isle to be wed
Instead of staying
In bed.
What a beautiful bark you have
you have
you have

III.
They looked to the stars
And way beyond Mars
They sang as bells
Pealed
The red planet on fire
They laughed at
The sunny
Like honey they
Found runny
What a beautiful
Bone to eat
They stayed on
Earth as a treat
Along with the night
the night
the night
Along with themselves Mars at night
Along with themselves Mars at night

The Meaning of Laundry

Life has its darts, creases and hems
I wandered lonely…
To the laundrette
Without a stitch on
Man is madness and the lady who
Does my cleaning insane
I have found life to be…
As unimportant as washing day
The machine eats the soap and
Rinses several times my clothes
The meaning of laundry
Is what’s the cost

Cite

The weary man
with eyes
I cite all case histories
in front of me
My love weakened
by a son gone fishing
Our truth in the dock
Who am I
Only the judge
The least pleading
Throws up senseless justice
My love in tears
how water falls
The lacklustre man
withering from sight
Or blindfolded passed
through as law
In the Court of Human rights
